Volunteering at Mokolodi

Minimum age
20 years (18 years for 2-week placement)

Duration & fees ($US)
  2 week placement:    $1200
  3 month placement:  $3000
  6 month placement:  $5000

The fee includes a deposit of $500 to be paid by the volunteer one month before taking up the position at Mokolodi.

These fees are payable by all volunteers. Please do not contact us saying that you would like to volunteer but cannot afford the fee.

What is included in the programme fee?
Accommodation (in tents)
Meals
Laundry service
Internet access (for sending and receiving of emails only)
Uniform (3 & 6 month placements only)
Free transport once per week to Gaborone
Free transport from/to Gaborone International Airport (at beginning and end of placement)

What is NOT included in the programme fee?
Airfare and/or other transport costs
Vaccinations, travel insurance, passport, visa (where required)

What is the status of a volunteer?
Whilst volunteers may have some valuable experience, their role is ancillary rather than supervisory.

Hours and duties
Volunteers are given a day off each week.
Their hours depend upon the nature of their work.
Although volunteers may be given specific duties, they are expected to be flexible and, when required, undertake other duties.

Personal welfare
A member of staff responsible for volunteer welfare greets volunteers upon arrival, and helps them to settle in.

The form does not have to be completed at one sitting. At any time you can save the form and then retrieve it later. It is sent to Mokolodi only when you choose to send it.
