The most prominent conservation project undertaken by Mokolodi is of course the white rhino breeding programme. An animal once on the very edge of extiction, Mokolodi's contribution to the protection and recovery of the white rhino population in Botswana and southern Africa is of particular importance. The project enjoys continued success and the reserve currently has a breeding herd containing 10 individuals. Since 1994, no less than 15 white rhino calves have been born here.

Mokolodi has a wildlife sanctuary and clinic, which rely heavily upon donation in cash and in kind for their continued operation. The clinic supports sick or injured wildlife, often rescued by members of the public. Our new Reptile Park also serves important conservation and educational roles and focuses particularly upon snakes. The nature reserve often works with other local conservation NGO's, such as Cheetah Conservation Botswana and recently, Leopard Ecology & Conservation.

Cheetah Conservation Botswana (CCB)
Mokolodi Nature Reserve is also the home base of CCB. The project was formed in 2003, to address the threat to the nation's cheetah population. Funded by grant aid and donor support, CCB's challenge is one of improving community perceptions towards predators while supporting and protecting rural community welfare.
