On himself Keith says:

"I'm currently Training Editor (News) with BBC World Service Training at Bush House in London. In 23 years at the BBC I've specialised in African affairs - carrying out regular reporting and programme-making trips across West, East and Southern Africa. I've been an editor of Newshour, the World Today and Assignment and have also worked as a writer for the Africa section of BBC News Online.

Outside the BBC, I've written widely on African political and military affairs and conservation issues for publications as varied as the Guardian, Economist, African Business, New African, the Listener and South. I've had four books published on African political and military issues. I'm married with a 16 year old son and am growing old disgracefully as Club Captain and the Development side skipper at Harrow Rugby Club and am an RFU-qualified rugby coach.  Fellow players have likened my playing style to that of a rather short rhino or perhaps a warthog."

Three months after visiting Mokolodi, Keith's 16-year old son Tom suffered a serious injury whilst playing rugby.
Despite a broken neck, Tom remains cheerful and an example to us all.
